Momentum

    Privacy Policy

    Last updated 26 August 2026

Momentum is a coaching app. You write to it about your work, your people and your life, so you should know exactly where those words go. This page says it plainly.

Momentum is run by Alex Knight, a sole trader in Sydney, Australia, trading as The Inner Coach and The Co-Founder Standard. Where this page says "I", it means Alex. Where it says "you", it means you, the person using the app.

I hold your information to the Australian Privacy Principles in the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth). A business my size is not always required to. I do it anyway.

    What I collect

Your account. Your name, your email address, and a password. Supabase stores the password scrambled. I never see it.

What you write. This is the bulk of it:

    • Your messages to the AI companion, and its replies.
    • Your check-ins, goals, next actions and progress notes.
    • Your journey entries and your Life System: the areas of your life, where you place them, the goals under them, and the people you name in them.
    • Values work, where your coaching includes it.
    • Anything you choose to say into the app by voice.

What I write about you. Session notes, recommendations, and my read on how the work is going.

Voice, if you use it. Your speech is turned into text and the text is what gets saved. I do not keep the recording.

Technical detail. How many messages you send, how long the coach took to reply, which model answered, whether a reply finished or broke, and errors. There is a section on that further down, because it deserves one.

Nothing else. There are no payment details in the app, nothing is sold in it, there is no advertising in it, and it does not track you across other apps or websites.

    Why I collect it

    • To coach you. Everything in the app exists to make the next session and the next decision sharper.
    • To make the companion useful. It reads your goals, your plan and your recent work so it is not starting cold every time you open it.
    • To hold the quality. I read these conversations myself and run checks over them, because you are paying for a standard.
    • To keep you safe. Language that reads as crisis raises a flag with me the same day.
    • To keep it running. Signing you in, fixing faults, and keeping the running costs sane.

    Who else sees it

This is the part most privacy pages bury. Here it is up front.

Me. I read your coaching conversations. That is not a leak, it is the coaching. No other client ever sees your work, and nobody else on earth has an account that can read it.

Anthropic, for the AI replies. When you send a message, that message and the context the companion is holding for you (your name, your goals, your plan, the rest of the conversation) go to Anthropic's API in the United States so a reply can be generated. The model is Claude Fable 5. If it refuses a message it should not have refused, Claude Opus 4.8 answers instead. Once a night a smaller model, Claude Haiku 4.5, reads finished conversations and labels them so I know which ones to review first.

Anthropic keeps prompts and replies for up to 30 days for their own trust and safety checks, then deletes them. They do not use your words to train their models. I need to be straight about the limit that creates: when you ask me to delete something, I can delete my copy straight away, but I cannot reach into Anthropic's 30 day window and pull it back early. It expires on its own.

ElevenLabs, for voice. Only if you use it. Your recording goes to ElevenLabs to be turned into text, and the coach's reply text goes to ElevenLabs to be spoken back to you. If ElevenLabs is unavailable, transcription falls back to OpenAI. Both are in the United States. I do not store the audio at either end. What each of them keeps is set by their own terms, not mine.

Supabase, for storage. Your account and every piece of coaching data sit in a Postgres database run by Supabase. The servers are in Tokyo, Japan.

Resend, for email. It sends the small number of emails the app sends. One of them matters here: if something you write matches crisis language, an email goes to me the same day so I can reach out to you. That email contains no part of what you wrote. It carries your account id and the time, and nothing else.

Google Analytics, for the website. The public website counts page views through Google Analytics, and the same measurement code is in the app build. It is deliberately blind to the private half: the coach room, your plan, your check-ins and every other signed-in page report nothing at all. The address of a page is never sent either, because sign-in tokens and private link codes live in addresses. What Google is told is that a public page was viewed.

Your employer, if they pay for your coaching. They are told that sessions happened. They are not told what you wrote.

Nobody else. I do not sell your information, I do not share it with advertisers, and I do not hand it to data brokers.

    Your information goes overseas

Australian Privacy Principle 8 says I have to tell you this before it happens rather than after, so here it is in one place. These are the countries your information is held in or sent to:

    • Japan. Supabase, where the database lives.
    • United States. Anthropic for the AI replies, ElevenLabs for voice, Resend for email, Google for website analytics, and OpenAI if the voice standby is used.

I have read what these companies commit to and I have chosen them on that basis. What I cannot promise you is that Australian privacy law follows your information to Tokyo or California. It does not, in the way it would here. That is the honest position, and it is why this section exists.

    The counting, in plain words

Two tables in the database do the counting, and neither of them is anonymous. Both are tied to your account.

Every message writes one row. It holds what you wrote, what the coach replied, which model answered, how many tokens it used, how long it took, and whether the reply finished cleanly. That row is what my review queue reads, and it is how I keep the running cost from getting away from me.

Your reactions write their own rows. If you flag a reply, report one, react to one, hit the daily message limit, or trip the crisis check, that is recorded against your account.

I could describe this as anonymous usage data. It is not, so I have not.

    How it is kept

    • Encrypted on the way there, over HTTPS, and encrypted at rest by Supabase.
    • Row level security in the database, so one client's rows cannot be read from another client's account.
    • Sign in is your email and a password you set. There is no social login and there never will be.
    • The app itself holds no long term secrets on your phone beyond your sign-in session.

No system is perfect. If something goes wrong I will tell you, and where the Notifiable Data Breaches scheme requires it, I will tell the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner too.

    How long I keep it

While you are a client, and while the record is still useful to your coaching.

When you leave, tell me and I will delete it, or delete it yourself from inside the app. I do not have a business reason to keep your words after you have gone, and "it might be useful one day" is not a reason.

Two things sit outside that. Invoices and the emails between us live in my accounts, not in the app, and I have to keep some of them for tax and professional reasons. And if you did values work inside a company space that belongs to somebody else, that work stays with the company, with your name off it.

Getting at it, fixing it, deleting it

See it. Ask me and I will send you what I hold. No charge, and normally inside 30 days.

Fix it. Tell me what is wrong and I will correct it. If I disagree, I will say why in writing and note your position on the record.

Delete it. In the app, open Settings and choose Delete account. You confirm, and it runs there and then: your conversations, your plan, your check-ins, your Life System, your session history, your profile and your sign-in. Nothing is kept back and nothing waits in a queue. You can also just email me and I will do it for you.

The one thing a delete does not reach is Anthropic's 30 day window, described above. It clears itself.

    Coaching, not therapy

Momentum is coaching. It is not therapy, counselling, psychology or medical treatment, and nothing in it is a diagnosis. The AI companion is a thinking partner, not a clinician.

If you are in distress or you are not safe, call Lifeline on 13 11 14, or 000 in an emergency. I read for crisis language and I will reach out to you, but I am not a crisis service and the app is not watched around the clock.

    Children

Momentum is for adults in a coaching engagement. It is not built for children and it is not aimed at them.

    If this page changes

I will change the date at the top, and for anything that actually affects you I will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
